Product Designer

San Francisco

Key insights come from many different places, and increasingly, the level of data fluency required to interpret enterprise data shuts most people out of the conversation. We believe the next generation of products must enable more view points rather than less, because a wide range of knowledge, experience, and ideas leads to better outcomes. Together we can remove this barrier to entry by distilling complex topics, like AI and machine learning, into easy-to-use tools that bring people back to the table.

At the center of our vision is purpose, usefulness, and usability. Taking incredibly complex analytical workflows and creating an experience that resonates not only with the most technical of users but also with those who are new to data interpretation. We’re looking for a Product Designer, who sees beauty in the stories told by data, to contribute to this challenge from start to finish: understanding how people use data to explore problems, answer questions and craft a narrative to communicate discoveries, crafting intuitive and beautiful interactions that make “touching” and “playing” with data feel like tangible, delightful, sensory experience, and shipping features that impact our business metrics. If you like the challenge of building the elegant and simple from the intimidating and complex, and to bring cutting edge concepts to the mass market, we look forward to having you apply.

What you’ll do

Immerse yourself in table’s strategy, user research, and data to understand our biggest opportunities for growth and platform evolution

Deeply understand the analytics needs of our customers by embedding in their problem spaces and find simple, powerful design solutions

Partner with the rest of our product org to build roadmaps, goals and success metrics focused on the most excitingand high-impact problems

Generate your own ideas, and drive collaborative processes to elicit ideas from your teammates

Explore those ideas via mockups, interactive prototypes, usability testing, and written documentation, ensuring that your team converges on the most promising solutions

Be capable of seeing the world from 10,000ft and 1ft

○  10,000ft: Build the systems, mental models, and architectures that lead our users to a rapidly acquired understanding of the platform

○  1ft: Craft intentional, polished flows and micro interactions that make the concept of “playing” with data a delightful reality

Partner with engineering to understand the technical constraints of a project, and make pragmatic tradeoffs on your designs

Craft your designs through every stage of the process: From exploratory concept through pixel-perfect, shipped UI

Who you are

You have previous experience as an in-house product designer. Bonus if you’ve worked on any data visualization software.

You have a portfolio showing your work, passions, process, and impact

You like thinking about complex problems, and enjoy exploring the ambiguity inherent to defining a new product category

You care about the details of your work, and love crafting pixel-perfect UI

You like collaborating, value winning as a team and are there to help your teammates when they are in need

You like shipping, and are willing to make hard tradeoffs in order to get features in the hands of customers

You like impact, seeing how your work makes peoples’ lives better and moves business metrics

You’re a self-starter, who can proactively identify opportunities for impact even when they’re not assigned to you

You enjoy collaboration and feedback, can give constructive and respectful critiques of others’ work, and can explain the reasoning behind your design decisions and opinions

You’re comfortable in a high-growth startup, can balance many simultaneous projects, and thrive in fast-paced environments

You aren’t afraid to speak up and engage in the conversation at any level in an organization
